NJ Beach Buggy Association Saving Dunes & Wildlife

BrigantineNow sends out a special thanks to The New Jersey Beach Buggy Association and associated surf-fishing clubs. SEE PICS BELOW. Under the supervision of the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife, they recently finished a project that provides protection for endangered and migratory shore birds.

A string line fence was constructed along the Brigantine dune line that secures a buffer, and protects our wildlife. The fence also provides access to both sportsmen and the general public…to the shore line. For more info and pics, click here… NJ Beach Buggy Assn.

The New Jersey Beach Buggy Association is a statewide organization dedicated to the preservation of natural beach resources. Since 1954 the NJBBA has fought to preserve beach access for all beach users. The NJBBA not only builds protective fences and plants dune grasses to protect beaches, but we get involved with community leaders and other worthy organizations to keep beaches open for all types of uses…..from birding to fishing and horseback riding or just for folks who like to walk the beach.

Brigantine: New Jersey’s Best Fishing

New Jersey Monthly selects Brigantine Beach as one of the state’s best fishing areas.

Brigantine has arguably the best saltwater fishing in the southern half of the state. This island city boasts a long, partly fishable jetty on the south end at Absecon Inlet, some four-wheel-drive beach access on its north end near Brigantine Inlet and a whole lot of fishy-looking water in-between.

Hello from Jennifer Blumenthal

Brigantine City Manager Jennifer Blumenthal

Brigantine's New City Manager

From the city manager; Jennifer Blumenthal

Dear Brigantine residents:

I want to thank you for the many words of support I’ve received both in person and by Email since I was sworn into office on January 18. My friends that live on our beautiful island have often told me about the generous spirit of Brigantine’s residents. Now I know for myself, and I will do all in my power to be worthy of the trust you have placed in me.

Although I grew up in Atlantic City, Brigantine was always like a second home to me. I came here many times with my parents to dine at some of Brigantine’s fine restaurants and to take in the beautiful sunsets over Absecon Bay.

Later, when I was older I came to visit friends and enjoy beautiful summer days by walking Brigantine’s many well-groomed beaches or taking a dip in the ocean. Although my last job was city manager of Mt. Laurel Township in Burlington County, I commuted daily from my home in Atlantic City. Because my free time was spent locally, I was able to keep abreast of all of the issues of importance to Atlantic County residents, including Brigantine’s.

All of you have a right to be proud of the community in which you live. Brigantine residents are known to be caring and compassionate. The city’s police and fire departments are renowned statewide for their excellence, and the Public Works Department is known for its efficiency and effectiveness. And, of course, Brigantine’s Schools are second to none in the entire State of New Jersey.

I can assure you that under my watch I will focus on enhancing the public services our residents need and deserve while ensuring that they are provided in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to maximize the tax dollars of our hard-working citizens and valued seniors. I am also committed to doubling and re-doubling our city’s efforts to attract new business and development, and to expand our programs aimed at boosting tourism.

As a firm believer in a strong constituent service program, I urge you to contact me directly if there is a problem that needs to be addressed. I guarantee you that, if there is a solution we will find it. Thank you again for your support and well wishes

Sincerely,

Jennifer Blumenthal, City Manager of Brigantine Beach, NJ
