Bayfest 2013 Recap from George Glomb

Well, Bayfest ’13 is in the history and ledger books. Were you there? Did you have a great time? An awful lot of people worked to make sure you did.

Hats off to Chairman Dave Biggins and his entire committee. They really did a bang-up job! Mother Nature was kind to us too, weather-wise. Friday night was a little shaky, but Saturday and Sunday were picture-book perfect. Not a cloud in the sky, and enough breeze to keep the bugs away. Super!

How did we do money-wise, you ask? No telling yet, because there are a lot of bills outstanding, but guaranteed, you’ll see your largess being spent on our community. How’s that, you wonder? Where do I begin?

Let’s start with Brigantine. Money will go to the community food bank, True Spirit Coalition, Walk Out On Drugs, Hooked On Fishing, Little League, Scouts and to our island service organizations: the VFW, American Legion and Lions, just to name a few.

Now off the island within our Grand Lodge jurisdiction, we assist the ASPCA, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, the Red Cross, the Cancer Society, Sister Jean’s Kitchen, the Leukemia Foundation and Toys for Tots, once again just to name a few.

Statewise, we have the Army of Hope, Fisher House, Elks Camp Moore, Vineland Memorial Home, the Veterans’ Haven, and on and on.

So now you know the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say. Thank you all for your support and may God bless.

Bye,

George
