Brigantine AirBnB Renter Faces Gun and Drug Charges

Efforts by Brigantine police and detectives, assisted by a tip from vigilant neighbors, lead to the arrest of a 25 yr old Brooklyn man.

Joshua J. Vanosten has been charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vanosten looks to have been renting a house in the 400 block of Sheridan Place in Brigantine.

The Brigantine home was being rented through Airbnb, a short term, online rental service.

On November 4, 2018 Brigantine Police responded to the report of an open door at the house, less than a block away from the Brigantine elementary and middle schools.

Neighbors believed the house was supposed to be unoccupied and that a burglary may have occurred.

Upon arrival by Brigantine Patrol Division, officers found the front door to the residence wide open and located a handgun lying on a table inside the residence in plain view.

Detective O’Donoghue applied for a search warrant for the residence and the search warrant was authorized and issued by a judge. Subsequent to the investigation, Vanosten’s charges were placed on a warrant and he was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

According to BreakingAC.com, Vanosten already was paroled and on community supervision from New York, records there show.
