Brigantine Beach Patrol MEMORIAL SWIM EVENT – AUG 12

The Brigantine City Beach Patrol hosts its 59th annual swim events on Sunday, Aug. 12. These swims are dedicated to all past BCBP lifeguards who are no longer with us.

The Memorial Swim is comprised of the Jim King and Rodger Lucey 1 Mile Swim, along with the Kids’ Quarter Mile swim and Children’s pool events. All three swims are free and open to Brigantine residents, former lifeguards, City employees and Aquatic Center members. Applications for the events may be obtained at the following locations: BCBP Headquarters, city dock, city hall lobby, community center, library, or Brigantine Aquatic Center.

Registration for the Children’s Pool swim at the Brigantine Aquatic Center takes place at 10:15 a.m. The races begin at 11 a.m. with a 25-yard swim for 6 and under; 50-yard swim for 7 and 8 year olds; and a 100-yard swim for 9 and 10 year olds.

Later in the day, the events move to the Brigantine Yacht Club for the start of the Kids’ Quarter Mile Bay Swim. Registration takes place at 5:15 p.m., with the race starting at 5:45 p.m. There will be two age groups: 9 and under, and 10 to 14.

The 1 Mile Swim will host all ages, with eight different age categories. Registration will be at 5:45 p.m., with the race starting at 6:30 p.m.
