Brigantine Braces For Real Estate Re-Val

Watch video.

Brigantine City Council meeting discusses the need for a re-evaluation or re-assessment of properties within the municipality, as mandated by the county.

The council is weighing options, considering whether to handle the process in-house or through a county shared service.

A key concern is avoiding the issues experienced during past reassessments conducted by outside companies, which led to numerous tax appeals and budgetary complications.

The council will also need to create new tax maps approved by the state of New Jersey before moving forward.

Combine this with the following:

Artificially inflated values of STR, Short Term Rentals.

Rising cost of insurance.

School Taxes with declining student attendance.

Water infrastructure, lead pipe replacement, potential contaminates.

Electric bills supporting offshore wind and ‘green energy’ initiatives.

Extreme lack of transparency at Brigantine Planning Board.

  1. I only hope that the reevaluation of properties will favor the homeowner and not higher taxes!

We in New Jersey pay one of the highest taxes around and it’s time for us to get a break and get our taxes lowered so we don’t have to move out of New Jersey.
