Brigantine Council Clash over Public Safety Director

From NBC-40 TV: Chiefs or a Public Safety Director was the hot topic at the Brigantine City Council meeting Tuesday night as members clashed over the controversial issue.

Some council members say they have heard the pleas to keep chiefs but haven’t seen hard proof that the current system is best for the city.

“If that’s the case, show me the evidence,” said Councilman Rick DeLucry. “Have a little faith that I will make an informed choice.”

“They’ve all been emotionally based, we need facts,” said Councilman Joseph Picardi.

Other members of Council, like Mayor Philip Guenther, state the reverse, citing a lack of evidence that a public safety director is most efficient.
