The Brigantine Democratic Committee announced that Richard DeLucry will run as the Democratic candidate for the 4th Ward in the November election.

DeLucry is an attorney with the firm of Hill Wallack LLP in Atlantic City and was one of the three candidates presented to council in December to fill the seat left vacant by Councilman Tony Pullella, who was elected to an at-large seat. Ken Schaffer was selected, but decided last week to opt out of the campaign due to business and personal commitments.

“For literally the first time in memory, thanks to the efforts of Tony Pullella, Frank Kern and Ken Schaffer, Brigantine‘s city government is starting to free itself from the destructive effects of decades of partisan self-interest,” DeLucry said in a statement. “Ken is doing a great job representing our ward and all the city’s taxpayers, and it’s a real loss that we’ll only have him for a few more months in that role. I don’t want to risk losing the momentum that he has helped build, for cost-effective, impartial and transparent government.
