Brigantine in Violation of NJ Affordable Housing Law

Michael Feely of Beachcomber News reports that Brigantine is one of many towns in New Jersey that are in violation of state law requiring affordable housing. Affordable housing for most shore towns has been the development of multifamily units on fast disappearing available lots.

Brigantine has joined other municipalities fighting the implementation of the “Mount Laurel doctrine” which was made law in 1987, requiring municipalities to provide a percentage of new housing be set aside for low to moderate income families.
