The Brigantine Taxpayers Association (BTA) has published the 2018 Brigantine public employee salary chart. Facts about the salaries of public employees are a public record. The BTA presents these facts as a public service to help Brigantine taxpayers evaluate their municipal government’s expenditure of taxes and revenue.
Summary: 2018 SALARIES – CITY OF BRIGANTINE MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES
- Brigantine’s latest estimated population is approx 8,900. This number continues to decline.
- Number of listed positions is 176. This is one more than last year.
- Brigantine has 34 police officers and 34 firefighters.
- Number of employees with listed salary of $100,000 or more….is 48. The most ever.
- 27% of Brigantine’s 176 public employees, make over $100,000 per year.
- Total employee payroll is $11 million. This doesn’t include part-time wages, seasonal workers.
- Overtime payments are $444,000, so far this year.
- Including seasonal employees, total Brigantine employee count is 365
- Longevity pay, (pay for staying employed) continues for some employees. So far, this costs Brigantine taxpayers $349,000 in 2018.
- Total personnel costs including payroll, health and other insurance, overtime and all statutory expenses, are, rounded, at least $18 million. That’s 80% of the $22.6 million in local property taxes for the 2018 municipal budget.
- Brigantine does not follow recommended practice of changing auditor every 3 years.
