Crossing The Aisle. Candidate Sera Hints at a Better Brigantine

From Vince Sera, Candidate for Brigantine City Council. For those who didn’t get a chance to read my letter in the local papers: To The Editor…

There are many people who will not understand why I have chosen to write this letter, but for the people who truly know me, this will make perfect sense.

Over the last few months I have had the opportunity to speak with many people about city issues. Throughout this time I have been very conflicted about a particular topic of discussion. After a lot of reflection and soul searching, I have decided to set the record straight and let people know how I feel.

The issue I would like to address is my relationship/ interactions with Mr. DeLucry. A number of people from the community have spoken very negatively about how he speaks to me at council meetings. And, I will be honest, it is very tempting to use this negative perception of him to advance my campaign. There are many people who have rallied behind me as a result of those interactions. While allowing this perception to continue could gain me a few more votes in November, I know in my heart that I am not that kind of person.

I want everyone to understand that although Mr. DeLucry and I have different political opinions, I also have a lot of respect for him and the position he holds. I am also very grateful that I have had the opportunity to speak with people who know him outside of the political world. Through those conversations I have learned that he is a good and caring person. It is my hope that one day, I can get to know that side of him.

So, for the people who think that I should be angry, insulted, or offended by his words, I want you to know that I am not. I have forgiven and moved on a long time ago, and I hope that you can do the same. I firmly believe that attitudes are contagious, and if we as a community continue to allow anger and frustration to guide us, then no matter the outcome in November, nothing will have changed.

If we truly want to make Brigantine a better place, then we need to let go of the anger and grievances of the past and start working towards a brighter future. I am willing to take the first step, are you?

Respectfully,

Vince Sera, Candidate for City Council

  1. This is why nothing will ever get done. I have just lost respect for Vince.

Instead of speaking the truth about DeLucry he is hedging his bets.

DeLucry is an arrogant, rude, condescending horse’s ass, with a huge superiority complex.

He needs to get the boot.

We need candidates that will get things accomplished; not go through the motions with their adversaries just to “get along”.
