Family Fun Day; JULY 7 at 4pm

The Community Presbyterian Church presents the Brigantine Community Family Fun Day on Saturday July 7, 2012. The event will take place at the 15th Street area combining the facilities of the Community Presbyterian Church and the City of Brigantine.

Get ready for a great late afternoon and evening experience.  A 4:00 p.m. Parade featuring the music of the Original Hobo Band and the Brigantine Brass, floats, bicycles, wagons, marching groups will kick off this great day.  The parade will form at the 26th Street Recreation Complex at 3:45 p.m.

The event will feature amusement rides, games, local organizations and vendors, clowns, magicians, pony rides, a variety of great foods and entertainment.

The Children’s Pet Show and Recreational games such as the egg‐toss, watermelon eating contests and races will also be held.

A special 8:00 p.m. Concert at Haneman Park featuring ‘EITHER OR’ will close out this event.

The event will kick off with the city’s annual parade, beginning at 4 p.m. at the 26th Street Sport Complex and proceeding up Brigantine Avenue to 16th Street. Everyone is encouraged to participate by decorating their bikes and wagons with patriotic themes. All children riding bikes must wear a helmet during the parade.

Parade music will be provided by the Original Hobo Band and the Brigantine Brass Band. The Mayor and Council will march along with representatives from the Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works, Girl Scouts and Beach Patrol. Gulliver, representing Clean Communities, will also make an appearance.

The national anthem will be sung by Brigantine’s Elaine King at about 4:45 p.m., followed by the mayor’s welcoming address.

Saturday promises to be a fun day with children’s games, carnival rides, and food galore. The Girl Scouts will have face painting, sand art and the always popular pony rides. The carnival rides are sponsored by the Brigantine PTA. Contests will include watermelon eating, egg tossing, and basketball skills.
