Ocean City Bulkheads

Ocean City Council will consider revisions to ordinances concerning bulkhead construction when it convenes Thursday evening, 7 p.m. at the library.

The ordinance proposes creating uniform regulations for construction, repair or renovation for all bulkheads along any waterway or beach, according to the agenda packet. Currently, the ordinance only applied to non-oceanfront bulkheads.

An entire passage concerning oceanfront bulkheads was added to the ordinance, stating the minimum elevation on the top of these bulkheads should be 11 feet, the alignment shall adhere to the Official Oceanfront Bulkhead Line of Ocean City, and the City Engineer must approve a plan proposing limits on disturbances to city residents.

Council will hear three proposed acquisitions of land on second reading. All three properties are in wetlands areas.
