Proclamation for “Defend Brigantine”: The City of Brigantine recognized “Defend Brigantine” for their efforts against offshore wind farms. The group was formed in 2022 due to “misleading information and lack of public awareness regarding the proposed Atlantic Shores and Orsted industrial offshore wind energy projects.”

Defend Brigantine Beach teamed up with Ventnor, Margate and Longport.
Their concerns include impacts on “the environment, marine life, tourism, the seashore economies, and the health and well-being of our community.” They see their work, along with support from other municipalities and officials, as stopping projects that “would have devastated our beach experiences, our beautiful seashore views, our local economies, commercial and recreational fishing, and the offshore marine environment, while significantly increasing our utility rates and local taxes.”
“Defend Brigantine Beach acknowledged the need to take stronger actions to prevent the industrialization of our ocean,” Mayor Sera said. “Their contributions have made an invaluable impact on our community extending far beyond Brigantine. We are forever grateful for all you have done to protect our community and our ocean.”
The group engaged in extensive community outreach, research, legal action, and lobbying.
