Replacement of Seawall Memorial Benches?

Brigantine SeawallBrigantineNOW reader question: This is the second time that I have tried to get an answer. I’m questioning when the memorial benches that have been destroyed on the seawall by Super Storm Sandy will be replaced. I brought this up at a council meeting, but it was obviously not a priority. I paid for two, my daughter had paid for eight memorials for family & friends that have passed away. There are several other people that also had dedicated memorials. A few fireman at the meeting had offered to contribute to the cause. It has been almost a year and a half since the storm & I still can’t get a definitive answer.

  1. I saw a company out there taking measurements to bid on the repairs of the seawall, which is in need of repair. I guess they’ll wait until summer to do that work. LOL

  2. My husbands memorial bench which cost $600 was at 11th Street, after Sandy it was found on 14th Street. The reason why that happened was because it was never bolted into the cement! Why can’t things be done correctly. It just isn’t fair.

  3. I was told the memorial bench I ordered and paid for would be in “at the latest” the 2nd week of August 2016. Now I am being told it won’t be until at least the first week of December because Public Works is so busy. Can someone give me a more definitive answer?? Thank you.

  4. I was mislead by a promise to get my money and application in for a almost certain Seawall bench placement. This memorial bench funds is misleading. Promising asap pre-pay on memorial bench then when u inquire they say your on a list 5 years out. Over a year later they took my money and where is that money accounted. I may be dead in 5 years. Misappropriation of funds and misleading info. Still waiting for my refund. The state auditor and Channel 10 is my next step.
