Brigantine City Council approved a discounted Veterans/active duty 4X4 permit for 2014 on a trial basis. Veterans and active duty personnel can purchase a 4X4 beach permit for the cost of a senior citizen permit. Usually, a 4X4 permit is $175. per year. Senior permits (60 yrs+) are $85.
To be eligible, applying veteran must provide state or Atlantic County Veterans ID card or a DD214 form along with other required paperwork for registering a vehicle in the Vet’s name. Permits can be purchased at the Brigantine Community Center on 42nd street.
A large majority of veterans in Brigantine already qualify for the over 60 senior discount, but newer veterans can now take advantage of the discount permit. Active duty personal must show their current military ID card. There is also plan in place for any active duty military personnel to get a free one day 4×4 permit in order to drive on beach.
