Mel Cortellessa at Ernest & Sons was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners Drive-ins & Dives. Quite the honor. Showing of old-time butcher skills and serving up some homemade beef jerky. Worked at the shop since he was 13. Bought the place from former councilman Sam Storino a few years back. Stop in for Mel’s superior sausage sandwich, the ‘Tailgater’.

Marci Guterman of Lilli Rose Boutique getting ready to launch her spiffy new website….making it easy to browse & shop her amazing line-up of woman’s clothing, shoes and accessories…even in the winter when her store on Brigantine Ave.  is closed.

Yianni’s Cafe will close for a few weeks in January in order to undergo substantial renovations and upgrades. Looks like a winner to us.

Chef Furman at Bella Luna tells us that his Pizza & Mexican dishes are attracting quite the following. It’s no joke. Bella Luna pizza is the best on the island. ( trust us, we love pizza )

Ken Villano has completed his majestic & historically correct masterpiece on Bayshore Ave. overlooking the Brigantine Yacht Club. We hear that ‘Miss Brigantine’ is quite happy with her new digs. It really is a spectacular property. Villano Builders now working their magic on Shipmaster Drive….overlooking St Georges.

Congrats to Gary Woerner and the team at Weichert Realtors… they’ve been recognized for their outstanding 30% increase of business…year over year on Brigantine Beach. These folks rock. Call Bob McClay for the inside scoop on hot properties and the best places to surf…. ALSO: Vacation rental activity thru Weichert has almost doubled over past 2 years. Maybe because they locked up all the best Brigantine Beach rentals?

Good luck John Carchidi of the Brigantine Post Office …after 32 years on the island…John is transferring to the Elwood branch of the USPS.

Atlantic City Restaurant Week. March 1-7.  Get your gift certificates now.

Looking to increase donations, many Brigantine non-profits are gathering info and tax documentation for 2015 audits. This will allow orgs like the Brigantine Hockey League to welcome new teams supported by charity efforts. Equipment, jerseys and dues for low-income kids will be paid for by local citizens. Brigantine CER head Jim Mogan, along with Brigantine Hockey League director; Paul Kabala, will provide details soon. Visit BrigantineHockey.com
