Main issues<\/a> affecting local residents: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Depleted housing stock<\/strong>\u2014 STR investor groups outbidding those looking for family home or annual rental.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Noise disturbances<\/strong>\u2014Short-term renters aren\u2019t invested in area or property. Show little (if any) regard for neighbors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Loss of Community. <\/strong>Year-round residency declines. Local business shuts down in off-season. Employees laid off.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    STR\u2019s harm families that need to rent annually. STR\u2019s makes it more difficult for young families to buy a primary residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Issues such as the depletion of housing for local residents and noise disturbances have motivated local governments to take action and limit the growth and operation of short-term rentals <\/a>in their neighborhoods. Local residents didn\u2019t appreciate that short-term renters were taking up housing that could have benefited people in their neighborhood. And it didn\u2019t help that some of these renters showed a complete disregard for their neighbors\u2014or for the properties they rented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
