Captain Starn’s. 5 Minutes From Brigantine. (well, it used to be)

SEE PICS & VIDEO > We love the slogan….”Just 5 minutes from Brigantine Beach.” This simple phrase describes why Brigantine Beach is one of the best beaches. We really do have the perfect mix. A family-friendly and relaxed environment of our Brigantine Beach community….mixed with a quick 5 minute drive to the non-stop excitement of Atlantic City’s entertainment, food & casino gaming. Crazy that our City leaders & Business Chamber never talk about this incredible fact, and our proximity to Jerseys #1 tourist destination. (I love to keep beating that drum)

This perfect mix has been going on for quite some time now. Back in the day, many Brigantiners would visit a place called Captain Starn’s, a popular seafood restaurant with an amazing variety of boating attractions. It even had seals & sea lions you could feed.

Some would take a sailboat ride….or maybe a speed boat cruise. Either way, Starn’s was place was THE place to go, back in the day. Just 5 minutes from Brigantine Beach.

Captain Starn’s was just off the Boardwalk in the Inlet section of Atlantic City…..opened by Clarence Starn in 1940. Click to see pics & watch Captain Starn’s featured in a movie from 1972….The King of Marvin Gardens, starring Jack Nicholson, Bruce Dern, Ellen Burstyn and Scatman Crothers.

  1. My sister sent me the link -we used to go there when we were kids in the 60’s
loved the sail boat and converted pt .

    1. MY MOTHER, FATHER, BROTHER AND I DID AS WELL. WE USED TO FEED THE SEA LIONS. I HAVE MATCHES WITH OUR FAMILY PICTURE ON IT.

  2. Went there once with my dad, mom, my sister and her husband.
It was in the 1960s and we arrived in a 57 Bellaire.
I was a kid and it made a big impression on me. Wish I could go back.

  3. Was a “camera girl” for the restaurant in the 70’s …took pictures that were printed on matchbooks or in a booklet. Really was a n interesting job…met many unique people!

  4. I have a photo folder souvenir from May 31/51 inside is a picture of a tour boat setting sail. The boat is called Helena G. Starn, among the passengers are husband and his parents.
