Rod n Reel

Brigantine developer has purchased the liquor license formerly held by the Rod and Reel Tavern, which closed after being damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Michael Snyder and his partner, Jack Scheurich, purchased the license for $145,000 last week when it was auctioned by the state Division of Taxation for unpaid taxes.

The pair also purchased the long-vacant Steak 38 property on Brigantine Boulevard – which also came with a retail consumption liquor license – earlier this year. Snyder previously developed a former bank into the restaurant Cellar 32 on Revere Boulevard in Brigantine.

The developer said he expects renovations at Steak 38, which was also damaged by Sandy, to be completed in about six months. Meanwhile, he’s eyeing the Rod and Reel property at the far north end of the island, which has now been separated from its liquor license.
