The Battle over Brigantine’s Golf Course

Riddle me this Batman: Prime piece of Real Estate. North end of Brigantine. Huge upside potential for local Brigantine taxpayers, tourism and fans of golf. That’s right. We’re talkin’ The Links at Brigantine Golf course. It’s the next battle in the cue for City Council. Don’t miss all the excitement on Wednesday night, April 2 at 6pm. City Hall Chambers, & live on local cable channel 97 & online at BrigantineNOW.com

The Republican Club recently sent this memo out to it’s membership:

ALERT: CITY COUNCIL May Lease GOLF COURSE For Next Twenty Plus Years.

After you, the Brigantine Taxpayers paid millions of dollars to eventually own the GOLF COURSE and have it pay us back dividends just a few years. Tony Pullella and his Democrat council members are about to sign over the Golf Course with a lease for over twenty years. We will not see a cent and will still have to pay off the money we owe over the next few years.

Come to the Council Meeting and express your displeasure with this proposal. It’s not too late! Come to the council meeting tomorrow night APRIL 2, 2014 @ 6:00 PM. Let city council know that we want an alternative plan that benefits the Brigantine Citizens and Taxpayers, not a few well connected individuals. Once its gone, its gone. See you there.

Local golfers had this to say:

The Links at Brigantine Beach seems to be a contentious debate among those on City Council who truly believe that the course would be better off being run and managed by a “Third Party” operator. Whether you agree or disagree, the livelihood of the residents and members who live on the golf course or supports the Links through league and tournament play, will come into question.

We all need to step up and voice our opinion about the league’s; Men’s Evening Golf Association (MEGA), Brigantine Women’s Golf Association (BWGA) and the Couples League, to those members on City Council, that any “RFP” MUST contain verbiage that each league will not be affected and receive the same if not better Member/Resident/Non-Resident rate’s we enjoy today. Please come out and show your support for the survival of all our leagues.
