The Press of Atlantic City reports that a former Atlantic City police officer was sentenced Friday to five years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor who told teachers the two had numerous sexual encounters, including inside his patrol car. Andre Corbin was arrested along with Brigantine Officer Ralph Pereira.
While the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office would not say whether they were charged with assaulting the same girl, there has been no indication of different victims.
Brigantine Officer Pereira, 44, of Brigantine was indicted on 10 criminal counts of sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in 2012 and 2013. Read More in Press of Atlantic City
Andre Corbin, 45, of Mays Landing, will serve at least two years on a charge of official misconduct before he is eligible for parole. Corbin will also serve five concurrent years for sexual assault.
Corbin pleaded guilty before his case went to the grand jury, so he was not indicted.
The incidents happened separately, and it is unclear whether the two men even know each other.
Corbin will have to register as a Megan’s Law offender and is subject to lifetime supervision.
