‘Respect Brigantine’ Leader Responds to Petition Roadblock

Letter to the Editor, from Vincent Sera; Vice-President, Respectable Government for Brigantine. To all people of Brigantine: I would like to draw public attention to the fact that there has been a deliberate effort to prevent the people of Brigantine from exercising their right to vote. The right to vote is one of our most basic and fundamental rights as citizens of this country. No group or individual should have the power to take this away!

Whether you agree with the change of government or not, this is an issue that should be decided by the public at large. Not by a handful of individuals who hold a disproportionate amount of power. Let us not forget that we are a government of the people, for the people, and by the people. And the people, should be the ones who decide what is right for our town.

No matter what word games the opposition tries to use, or what legal technicalities they may think of, you can not deny the fact that over two thousand people are in favor of placing the change of government on the ballot, and almost fifteen hundred registered voters were willing to sign their name on the petition publicly stating their support.

I want everyone to know that I respect the peoples’ right to voice their opinions, both for and against this change of government, but when it comes to the final decision, I strongly believe that every citizen should be given the opportunity to exercise their Constitutional Right to Vote!

Respectfully,

Vincent Sera
Vice-President
Respectable Government for Brigantine
