Weeks ago, BrigantineNOW readers reminded us of the continued decline of ‘Shark Park’ playground. After City Council saw the embarrassing park pics we posted, they were forced to act. Typical partisan debate ensued. Weeks pass and the park gets worse. We posted new, more nasty photos of the park on Sunday, April 27. (see below) Magically, the pace of the SAVE SHARK PARK project has picked up.
It seems like the city, with some heavy lifting from local community leaders, could be moving forward with a smart ‘2 phase game plan.’
PHASE #1. ( completed before Summer 2014 )
- New slides & swings installed
- Worn-out parts upgraded and/or replaced
- Structures repaired for safety
- Composite upgrades for some sections
- New surface mulch & padding for improved safety
- Fresh paint to brighten things up
- Upgrades for seating & benches inside gazebo area
PHASE #2 ( sometime in near future )
- Some new equipment & features
- New surface to entire park
- New composite surfaces for all contact points
